Not neccessarily, there was one scentence in the bill most voters didn't read," and other transportation projects" and right now there is one project that is billions over budget and years behind schedule.
Oh yeah the bullit train that runs between Merced and Bakersfield......
And I thought $50 per year was bad for our new vehicles. Our vehicles that are older than 7 years cost an extra $25 for permanent tags. I hear of places like Cali and Colorado, and just can't imagine paying taxes like that on a vehicle.
I was right there with you and had no problem with my Class 3 registration. Then I went and bought a 14,000# deckover and had to combo register it. Ugh, now I dread my yearly Class 7 sticker but glad I didn't go bigger to require the Class 8!
i was a class 3 on my F150 at 7350lbs. I just jumped to a 4B for 11000lbs. So I’m missing out on 500lbs of payload but saving some cash by not going to the next class.
Our tags went from $21 to $29 in one year. About a 28% increase and no valid reason given. But at least our county doesn't have inspections or emissions testing.
$500-$1000 a year +/- to register a light duty pickup truck? I knew some places were more or less than others but that is absolute insanity. Like, I realize the state has to maintain the roads, we have to collectivize the cost, trucks might wear or cost more than others so it's higher, I get it and agree with all that. But those prices are not intended to cover the cost of anything, it's a punitive fine. Madness.
If and when you guys move to other states that don't outright hate their constituents, please remember not to enable the same kinds of disgusting hypocrites that levy these ridiculous fines on everyday people.

That’s what they would like you to believe, but here in Iowa that’s not really the case. Our registration is a calculation from vehicle weight and cost, but the cost portion far outweighs the weight of the vehicle. It is calculated as $0.40 per hundred pounds and 1% of list price. So going from a 3000 pound car to a 8000 pound truck only adds $20 to the registration, but going from a $20k car to a $70k truck adds $500. It’s not about the wear on the road here, it’s about a rich person tax.
Here in Virginia the registration is not bad at all but they hit you with the dreaded personal property tax, which is applicable to most anything from boats to planes to cars and RVs etc. Rates vary by county but can be very substantial.. There is a 40% car tax relief on non business vehicles for the first 20k of value, but if its tagged commercial, which over 10k GVWR it will be, there is no relief. But compared to many other states real estate taxes are low so either way you will pay the man.
