Random Panic Alarm - Argh

Had this truck close to 3 months '18 lariat SRW 6.7 in which time the panic alarm as gone off randomly in the middle of the night. It has happened twice while I have been camping this summer and a few more times at home. It happened again last nigh 3am SOB I hit the lock button to shut it off and nearly got back to bed and it went off again 45 min later !! WTF I just threw the keys in it and left the doors unlocked. Nothing like scrambling out of bed in the middle of the night trying to find the FOB to shut the damn thing off. .

I don't know if the alarm system is that sensitive in which a critter would set it off ? No attempt at a break in or anything to that affect.

Maybe there is some explanation I'm at a loss as to what would cause it. Needless to say I keep the keys by the door along with a pair of pants.

If it’s still under warranty, have the dealer fix it.

Unless the Ford Mechanic wants to camp out on my couch every night there is slim to no chance they are going to find anything wrong.

Unless the panic alarm stores a DTC ?

My 2017 F250 was doing the same thing. Dealer "could not duplicate "

I was was fed up so I figured I would start isolating parts of the system. First thing I disconnected were the two sensors in the overhead console.

Have not not had a false alarm or problem since.

I saw another thread on this a few months back. Same situation someone was camping and it kept alarming throughout the night. Somebody on the forum thought it could be a moth or some bug locked inside the cab. Definitely possible.....

Absolutely a moth in the cab. The interior sensors are pretty sensitive. If a bug the size of a fly or larger is in there, it'll set it off. You can go into the settings on the dash and select "perimeter only" on the alarm system to turn them off.

Leave the windows open, set the alarm, then toss a rag into the back seat. It will set off the alarm. I learned my lesson. Even in the garage I keep the windows up to remind me not to toss stuff into the cab.

Really this thing has sensors in the cab ! SOB - I had the windows down slightly.

Well that would explain it. Thanks Fellas ! Good to know.

On my sons 2015 F250 truck we narrowed it down to the left rear passenger door switch.
They were even able to look up the history of the door locks in the computer they told us.
He would have lights on in the cab at times, and mostly when it was cold the alarm would go off at night.
When the lights would be on, we would push on each door one at a time and the left rear door would shut the inside lights off.
