I'm sure this has been covered but I can't find it. I have the 5.0 and was wondering what cat back is better, the s type or atak. I really like the sound of the atak but don't want to start any problems with my neighbors, so basically I need to know if the atak is too loud
Sound is very subjective. For me, the S-Type is perfect. Some say that the ATAK is prefect. Best way I can describe the S-Type is mellow at low RPMs and a deep rumble at higher RPMs. I wouldn't want to go any louder for my neighborhood since I leave early for work. Have had the S-Type for 6 years now and have been very happy with it overall. Zero drone at any RPM.
Youtube videos don't really do any of these systems justice.
Yeah, I've probably watched every YouTube video I could find and I believe they don't do them justice. And also do you know if the Ford performance by borla sport is the same as the s type? I like how the tips say Ford in them
I just installed the borla touring and the volume is perfect for me, louder than I was expecting but I like it. I'd probably go with the s type since you are concerned about the neighbors.
NOTE: Sound has gotten much better over time! Has got deeper & a little louder!
It's still not as loud as my Legato system, but the consistent tone of the S-Type is fantastic!
I needed it a little quieter than it was anyway, so mission accomplished. I believe the ATAK would've been similar to my old Legato system & I didn't like the raspy tone in higher RPM's. Plus, as Robb stated, sound/loudness is subjective to different people.
