I don't think there was a change in the depth of the GP well in the heads over the years. The 2003 piston is unique and by that situation is an expensive piston to install when rebuilding motors. If you have an MY 2003 rebuilt, it could have either piston in it depending on the source.

Agreed. My concern is "not getting" what you ordered/needed on Amazon or in a parts store

[ Rant = On ]
Amazon just did that to me on something I ordered from EBAY. Two things get under my skin on that one. I ordered from a EBAY seller
and they used Amazon so how much did that add to the cost and the second part they sent the wrong item and now I have to send it back
and wait to get my $ back. How hard is it to pull the right set of sheets for a bed off a shelf?

I find that only if I can't get the item from a local store tor Ebay then I look to see if I can find it some other place before I use Amazon.

I agree...I refuse to buy Amazon and there attempt to monopolize the retail industry.

Getting ready for glow plug swap.

Yesterday my #2 glow plug set DTC, so I'm planning on doing all 4 on that side for now. So I bought 4 GP's from Riverhead Ford, NY (4C3Z-12A342-AA). I priced the driver side harness while I was there but it was pricey and I just didn't have it to spend yesterday. Anyway I went on XDP website and found the driver side harness made by Bostech (WHO2960) $39.95. Does anyone know who makes the Glow plug harness for Ford or has anyone used a Bostech harness on there 6.0l?

Don't forget >>> FICMRepair.com - FORD Powerstroke 6.0 FICM Repair, PHP Tuning and Truck Parts
Same Ford part and should be less than AutoNation White Bear Lake.
Ed at FICMrepair supports FTE and AutoNation no longer does.

You are correct. I've got 03 pistons with the shorter, later model glowplugs and haven't had any issues at all. There wasn't a change in the depth of the GP well it was a change in the piston bowl that necessitated the shorter glow plugs.

The way I would do this is a PITA, but .....

Remove the valve covers and plug the oil drain back holes in the head that would allow broken parts of the harness connector to fall into the oil pan. While the plastic would be easily digestible by the LPOP, it’s something I would personally prefer to avoid.

It was interesting when I pulled the harness connectors out of my ‘03 motor while it was on the stand in the garage. The rebuilt motor installed by the dealer in 2010 had a newer harness on the one side and a very rusted original harness on the other. The orginal to truck older harness popped out fine, totally intact. The Ford installed 2010 harness broke all apart despite having the pulling tool and the most ideal conditions for removing the harness. However, since that one side was replaced during the motor swap, maybe it’s more of a tail of one side gets a little more heat then the other rather then a lowering of quality with a different “OE” Ford supplier.
