Engine code P0402 2012 F250 6.7

I have a 2012 F250 with a 6.7. Was throwing P0401. The dealer told me to replace the EGR valve. Replaced the valve and cleared code. 40 miles down the road P0402 shows up. Ive replaced air filter, EGR valve MAF and cant figure this one out. Has anyone else had luck with this code?

EGR cooler needs cleaned or replaced, not the valve.

You can clean the cooler with some soap and water and then blow it out.

TSB says to replace the core. But you can clean it and reuse it.

Different code.

That’s for a p0401 not a p0402.

sorry about that! should have paid closer attention to your code. certainly EGR related. Id probably have a look and do some pin point testing of the valve.

Plugged EGR cooler for P0401. P0402 is a code for a flow issue so I am fairly certain it can be related to blockage.

only thing I can really come up with is your original code that would have directed you to check the core. Otherwise you have addressed everything else it could have been.

There is a MAP sensor as well but I don't think that is the issue here.

p0402 is for excessive flow. Wouldn’t the blockage reduce the flow.

You have a point, I was thinking restriction but if exhaust gases are bypassing the cooler more then the parameters allow, I could argue that is excessive flow.

What about the EGR pressure sensor?
