One month ago my egr valve got stuck open, I cleaned it and truck runs fine. Two days ago I started my truck (-35 degrees outside) and the P0299 code came on. At idle the VGT is around 65-72 and driving it it is between 43-60. I haven't had a chance to check the upper and lower charger cooler hoses.
Even if I find a cracked hose should I still pull out the turbo and clean everything? Truck is running strong and I've put on 190 miles after the code popped up.
Thanks for reading this and any advise you may make
I had the same code pop up on mine! My egr valve o rings were pretty shot. Do you have an egr delete or anything? If not it may be time for a new valve
On Wednesday I cleared the code and it came right back on, today I replace the upper charger cooler hose and cleared the code again and drove around for half an hour and the code hasn't been back yet. I just put on new o-rings on the egr last weekend. Do I need a new manifold or how do I go about replacing the map valve?
the map is a sensor. i would start by checking if the reading is in psi first. then if you are using a scangauge make sure you have the value for the calc right. it looks like it may be set in hg" to me
I feel like I'm in over my head! I do use the scangauge, and I think you're right about it being psi because when I had to enter all the "codes" into it they suggested I named the setting psi.
