Our engine was built with Rocker Arm Specialties, rockers, who made some very nice roller rockers. Problem is they are no longer in business. One of my rockers needs some maintenance, so I am going with a different setup.
T&D Rockers #7030 are extremely strong. But installing these rockers necessitates machining the head, plus modifications in the block, along with new push rods that oil through the push rod. So while I am at it I am going to replace the roller lifters also.
One option is to install the T&D 7020 rockers, which does not require any other changes. BUT with .736 lift and very strong valve springs, it might have a problem in the future. I want to do it right and not patch up a problem. It is sad that the cost of liters, push rods and rockers are about the same price of building a 445ci FE.
Oh well , life is short, so might as well enjoy it fully.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is, if any of you want to build a FE race engine, check out the T&D 7030 rockers and procedures needed to make them work.
Here are some pictures of my original rocker setup. It is good up to 10,000 rpm without deflection. To bad the company went out of business.
Have you looked at Dove Manufacturing's super heavy duty rocker system, pricey but top go the line FE rocker system.

They say no head mods needed. Dove Manufacturing

Yes I have, and they do make a nice setup. I will give them another look. I like that they do not oil through the push rods, thus saving weight. The 7030's use the head bolts "or studs" to stabilize the rockers eliminating the rocker shaft. Both have their good points.
Thanks for reminding me of Dove's setup.
Wow..... I did not know they were back in business. Great find. I will be talking to them tomorrow. Thanks a bunch. I feel their setup is equal or better then any other setup. That is why I purchased them in the first place. Great find. You might have saved me $4,500 in new part systems. That is what I was quoted for the T&D's rockers, push rods and lifters, and machine work. The picture above must be of their stock setup.

I take PayPal... haha
Good deal, I wondered about that, which is why I brought it up. They have had some teething problems, delays at times and are under new management etc etc. Hope it works out for you.
I went over and spoke to Gary, who now owns the company. He is a stand up guy. The problem that I had was one of the lifter rollers went out of round. He is going to replace the one roller with a new one at no charge. I purchased the system at least five years ago. I call that good service.

If you come to Redding, I will take you out to lunch.
