I have a 2018 2.7 with the 10 speed transmission with 1500 mi, and I have regrets. Turning left in a 4 way stop, it slipped out of gear in the middle of the intersection. I gave it gas and it went nowhere. After about 5-7 painful seconds it slipped back into gear. I dropped it off at the dealer (no loaner given) and so far they can't find anything wrong, and no code was thrown. I don't know my next step, but will probably contact Ford and register the issue at a higher level. If I could turn the vehicle back in I would, and I will request that. I cannot trust a vehicle that unpredictably slips out of gear. I'm sure there's nothing I'll be able to do, maybe I'll see if I can still get an extended warranty. For me, this was a big purchase and I saved for years to buy this truck. So disappointed, have to drive around with a nagging worry, puckering every time I pull out in traffic. I will keep you posted about how Ford treats me on this.
Sorry to hear about the problems you`re having because I know it`s frustrating but, your vehicle is under warranty so just let the dealer try and locate the problem and fix it for you.
Also, regardless if a vehicle is under warranty or not, loaner vehicles are a "Perk" that some dealers offer their customers.....not a "Requirement" when a vehicle is brought in for repair under warranty.
Thanks for everyone's input and very polite responses. The OP either took my advise and changed his name or he decided to cut and run. Either way it's cool with me.
So, I'll leave this open for a few more days to see if he comes back in one form or another. If not, I'll close it up.
Thanks to everyone for their time and kind responses to my post. Haven't been able to post as I've been super busy working full time and taking classes at night. Unfortunately, I've had more problems with my transmission, first slipping again in the middle of an intersection for about 3-4 seconds where it would go nowhere, and then most recently, major problems shifting when pulling onto a busy street. This felt more mechanical to me than the slipping, and came with clunkiness, hesitation, and very rough shifting, then it seemed "stuck" for about 2-3 seconds and would not respond. It had run for about 10 minutes so it should've been warmed up.
The dealer has been pretty nice to work with, they are always apologetic and try to find the problem, but it never throws a code of any kind. They did flash the processor of the transmission with a new update, and I got my hopes up that it was fixed, but a week later I had the clunky shifting problem. They are now offering a loaner for the next time I bring it in, which is nice. But this really sucks, as it only has 2500 mi on it, I paid more money that I ever have on a vehicle, but I cringe now every time I pull out in traffic. Haven't felt like that since I had my old Fiat in college.
Apologies to all for the user name, it was a tongue in cheek/humorous reference that was not meant to offend. I would change it if I knew how. Honestly, the truck is an incredible piece of engineering if the transmission was not acting up. It is a phenomenal vehicle, and I am getting great gas mileage. The interior is fantastic, and the handling is great. My brother has a 6 speed 2016 Laredo that is amazing. So it's the 10 speed tranny that's the only problem. But a good transmission is kind of critical, especially with a truck, so the rest doesn't matter to me if it won't go. I will just keep taking it to the dealer as many times as I have to in the hopes that there is a solution someday.
I will keep folks posted in case there is some resolution, so other poor souls might benefit from the info.
Keep us posted FixorRepairDaily. Mine at 12,500 miles has just started the hang 3-4 seconds and banging into gear. I also get clunks between gears, and some loud bang under the truck when starting it up like a hammer hits the transmission. We'll see what I'm told, too.
