Cracked Head
Hey Friends,
I discovered I have a cracked cylinder head on my 79’ F-250 4x4.
I’m not having much luck finding anything local and thought I would reach out on here for some help. The motor is a 400. Located in KS., but won’t mind paying to have something shipped. Feel free to email me at matt.swenson@yahoo.com or reply to this post. Thanks!

1975/82 351M/400's were very prone to cracking cylinder heads. When you buy a replacement, have it magnafluxed FIRST before doing anything else with it.

1975/79 Ford/L/M Passenger Cars; 1977/79 F100/350; 1978/82 Bronco; 1980/82 F150/350 & Econoline.
No 351M/400 in 1975/79 Econoline, cars after 1979 & 1980/82 F100.

They were junk castings and had tons of variations of thickness and with poor head bolt spacing it was hard to control torque through heat cycles and it leads to blown head gaskets and cracked heads.
FYI I would not buy anything from rock auto and I will not support them. They no longer have a customer service department and you are stuck with defective products.
