Camper Wiring

Installed my 1995 Lance camper onto my 1992 F350 yesterday and I expected that the external camper lights would light up when the truck lights are on. They don't. I know the lights work as they were checked when resurrecting the camper when on battery. What battery switch setting should be used when attached to the truck electrics? There is a battery switch with Off - 1 - All - 2 settings. There is not a second camper battery installed, but there is wiring for one. Anyone have a wiring diagram for a 1995 Lance camper? I checked with Lance and they do not.

The external camper lights should come on with the truck lights. The plug from the truck is most likely wired improperly. The battery switch does not have anything to do with the external lights. It is for selecting which battery/batteries operate the accessories inside the camper. Anyway, that i my take on it without pictures.

Need the model of Lance you have...Pics would help. Clearance and tail lights should come on when the pickup's headlight switch is in the parking light or headlight on position. Haven't seen a battery switch, other than a push-pull on off switch in the battery compartment, on the Lances. I have had a 97 Legends 880, which was destroyed by fire earlier this year and that we will be replacing, most likely with another Lance, this coming winter when the best discounts become available.

The switch you describe is most commonly found on boats equipped with dual batteries and my boat is no exception. If you put the switch in "all" then power for any battery connected to either post on the switch is delivered. If properly wired, with only one battery installed, the 1 and All positions should deliver power from the battery. 2 is usually reserved for the 2nd or alternate battery.

Presuming here that you have checked the plug from the pickup to make sure all of the pins are showing electricity when the circuits are activated such and turn & brake, tail lights & clearance lights. If you have the towing package, there may be a second fuse box under the hood with tow wiring fuse(s). My pickup is a 96 so this may be different with yours.
Lance Campers in those year ranges also had two fuse/circuit breaker panels. There is a fuse box under the sink that has a fuse for tail and clearance lights on the camper and fuses and circuit breakers behind the inverter panel located in the step up to the cab over bed.

The 1994 and 1995 owners manuals all seem to default to the 1993.

I have a 1/95 Lance 300, Squire 3000 8'6" Extended cab camper on my '92 F350. I cleaned the main cable connections and it fixed the lack of running lights. Thanks. Jeff
