Engine swap

Hey guys new here and am having some trouble. I just bought a 2008 f150 with the 5.4 Triton in it. The engine was bad when I bought it. I pulled the coils and found that the boots where brown and ordered my new engine accordingly. Long story short it turns out my original engine has the old style plugs with the wrong boots. I now have the new style engine. Will the new style still work with the older style? Will I need to change coils or programming? Any help would be great! Thanks

I can't really give you an answer

But isn't it like putting Newer 08 heads on and old 5.4 . I wonder if the pcm is the same for all the years 04 to 08 ??? Some bright star may know the differences .Some years may have some sensors others don't -- like oil temp . My guess is you will be okay .

Yes I just swapped an 08 engine into my 05. It needs the appropriate brown coil boots, I believe the coils are the same. Enjoy not worrying about broken spark plugs anymore!
