Can you put a pre 08 engine in a 08 truck that came with the new style engine?

 

Nothing was new on the '08 5.4L engine, it's essentially the same from '05-10. What year are you looking at for the donor engine?

 

They changed the heads October 07, didn't know if programing , sensors, selinoids where different?

 

There are typically minor changes between model years, and some of the sensors and actuators may be different. You can remove anything that's different and reinstall it on the new engine without issue.

The truck isn't going to care if there's a casting revision in the heads, it will run just fine.

 

I have ano 08 that had the engine with the new heads from the factory, dealer in bought it from put a reman engine with the old style heads in the truck. I'm starting to have problems with it, didn't know if it could be a computer problem or not. Wasn't sure about compatibility.

 

What kind of problems are you having?

 

No power, rattling, keep throwing codes for knock sensor, left and right bank rich

 

The rattling and no power almost implies a timing issue with the VCT. How many miles are on the engine?
