I got it to work
i reformatted the usb to exfat like I did last time and it cleaned the drive. I re downloaded the file from Ford and put it on the drive. Plugged it in on a drive and it started 5 minutes into the drive and was done in about 20. Maybe the ford server updated the file??
I’m not sure what changed???
I'm surprised to say this, but the 2.3 to 3.0 upgrade (I waited for this 18093) did seem to improve sound quality from the Sony system considerably. Did anyone else notice the same?
I'm a newbie to this, so bear with me and if there is a link on details I'm looking for I'd be grateful for it. I searched but did not find. I learned here to go to the owner.ford.com site to check. I updated my account, read all the instructions, and downloaded a zip file for Sync3.
Some questions:
1. The "unzipped" folder is named JR35-14G381-AM, and it has "autoinstall.lst", "DONTINDX.MSA" and 8 tar files that are still zipped, and all with a "SyncMyRide" prefix to their names, i.e. for example: SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-AA.tar.gz. The instructions on the FORD site show "CAB" files. Have I not unzipped correctly?
2. Do I copy the files, not the parent folder named "JR3T-14G381-AM"?
3. the instructions say you need a 32GB thumb drive...really?! Files are taking up 1.62 GB. Can I use a 2GB or 8GB thumb drive?
4. If this fails, will I blow up my truck and have to walk to work Tuesday? Or worse, have to listen to NPR?

I noticed a slight improvement when i went to 3.0 originally
I had high Hope's for this new build but seems to be more of the same. Radio defaults to AM or FM on start up and tonight the radio froze on an incoming call. I had to do a soft reset to get it to respond again. I hope ford has a major software update coming soon. This is getting really old.

So far, mine has gone back to the last played source, no default to radio.
Well, I guess it updated although it sure didn't work like the instructions on the ford site. Basically, I could not start the update per instructions; instead, after a while, the system just started to update. Took it for a drive, less than 15min and it said complete and that the vehicle had to be shut off to finish. Pulled over, shut down, started up and radio and nav screen resumed where it had left off. Less than 5 min later and it started another update process, this one took at least 15 minutes more. When it finished it said that it would be updated completely once the truck was shut down and restarted. So I did that. The same thing again, it came back to my radio station and nav screen. Automatically connected to Bluetooth phone, and had my "home" still stored in the Nav. I verified it is now version 3 although I didn't pay attention to the build. I wonder what I have done!
Between the wife and I, we have at least two dozen flash drives, not one big enough. I do have a T-byte drive but it needs to be formatted to exFat, not willing to do that.

16 GB USB drive will work fine. Be sure to use the default allocation unit size. I tried to outsmart it by using a larger size but Sync couldn't read the USB drive.

Use a different browser. I had the same problem.

See above answer. USB drives are dirt cheap. The solution to not having access to one large enough is just a couple clicks away on Amazon.
I liked my ford touch I had in my 2011. In a 4 wheel drive truck made to go off road it does not show near as many forest service roads and when you hit where am I now it does not give GPS coordinates or elevation anymore and every time you start the truck it returns back to am radio. Had a favorite list of the top ten people I call so all you had to do was touch a number. New and improved my ***.
