Help!! Electrical Issues

My ‘17 f250 (08/17 build date) has been having loads of electrical issues off and on.

ABS,Parking Break,Traction control, hill descent, Adaptive steering fault, Check 4x4, Airbag, service front cam,etc... MOST lights in my truck are on!

They seem to only come after driving when its
wet outside as they come and go but this time it seems they don’t plan on leaving.

At times none of the buttons on the steering wheel work. Not volume, Forward/Backward songs, Media, Not the y’all buttons, cruise control, nor the OK and surrounding arrows. Blinkers will not work and Neither will the high beams.

i also experience 911 Assist Messages and Navigation Not functioning properly on my big Navigation screen and the map will not work.

The volume will get stuck @ full volume and once you turn down it will instantly turn itself back up.

The truck has had dpf & Egr delete since the day I bought it and this just recently started happening. I don’t believe they’re the culprit but it must be the Bcm...
I checked the grey/cream colored
plug by spare tire most people have issues with and it was fine!

I am at a dead end here and looking for some
advice.

thanks,
JB

Have you taken it to your dealer?

If it’s still under warranty, have Ford deal with it.

I was told by one dealer they would not look at it due to the deletes. I tried to explain they had nothing to do with the issue.
i have an appointment with another tomorrow morning.

There was a thread awhile back about a pigtail near the rear of the truck causing similar problems when water got into it. Someone here might be able help you with this problem by pointing out which one it is.

JB, as you are likely aware, all of these modern vehicles including the Super Duty run on - what in layman's terms we can call a network. All kinds of sensors are connected to the network and each one put's its status on the network and then anyone that needs to see that status, simply pulls it off of the network. With so many things going on at once, you have a rather major disruption on this network.... and everything starts complaining at once - hence all of the lights and warnings.

A major wiring harness has been compromised - most likely physically. Look for wiring harness that may have been melted. Because you say that you've had some "deletes: done, have a look in that general area and inspect the wiring harness for any heat-related issues. Alternatively, one of your (front?) tires may have hit some debris on the road and flipped it up into a major harness. I'd advocate spending some time on your back underneath the truck and tracing wiring harnesses with a flashlight. If all looks good after a careful inspection, I would start the harder task of looking underneath the hood looking for something that has gotten too close to the exhaust system. Best of luck.

Check the wire connectors near your spare tire. They are known to get corroded and cause all sorts of interference. They are a pain to get to, but just unplug them and have a look, $10 says its one of those if you've seen any sort of water in the trucks life.

My wife's 16` Fusion does the same exact thing and she decided to let me know a week after her warranty expired. On the Fusion side of things people have reported finding a corroded wheel speed sensor wire a few inches up the harness from the pigtail.

I had major electrical faults as well as tailgate dropping when my rear main harness corroded due to water ingress. I was told the Fuel tank had to be removed to replace the rear main harness, and that corrosion was found in other connectors off the main.

It may may be something related to your weight loss, but these pickups are known to have water ingress/corrosion into the harness connectors. I have been advised not to use auto washes or ford streams after replacement. There is a TSB associated with this.

GL!

The 2016 F-350 that I just traded threw faults like that. Turned out to be the harness that they attached to the parking brake bracket. When taking the parking brake off, it bangs and caused the harness to become loose. I removed it from where Ford attached it and zip tied it up higher.....never had the issue again.

I have seen all of the threads regarding the plug on the back and checked all of them. I pulled all fender liners out and really looked at all wires/connections and wiring harness and everything checks out.
I am also thinking it’s corrosion related because it’s off and on. I don’t think the whole bcm went out, just think it gets bad connection from time to time or when it’s wet/moist...
