I am installing a 300w two channel amp in my car, and I have a question about wiring. I know that I need an eight gauge battery line, but does it make a difference what type of wire I use? I am an electrician, so I have plenty of Eight gauge wire around, but the wire in the amp kits are "oxygen free" so they say. what's the diff?

doesnt mean anything, its a marketing gimic. u will need wire that has very fine multiple strands in it to better transfer flow and disapate heat. the standard housing wire wont work good.
