Damn. Sucks to see this. being you have 60 plus K on the truck and getting that annoying code. Mine has like 18k on it. Anyway. ... The last time I took mine back, 4 or 5 times now I don't remember for sure which now, but I was annoyed and let them know. The mechanic this time was supposedly their expert diesel guy. He didn't give me anything definitive, just said when he went through everything, there was a lot of stuff off, not set correctly, or whatever. He also mentioned he went so far investigating the issue that he saw this thread and my posts...I'm thinking if you're such an expert, why are you searching the globe like the rest of us trying to find out what the issue might be? Anyway, in his defense, the light has remained off still so far this time. Also, on a side note, I'm wondering how I was supposed to know when my truck was doing an auto regen? I get no alerts on the display..... I only know now when it's doing a regen going by the filter percentage screen. Let's me know it's full and then percentage starts counting back down to 0.

Engine warranty on the diesel is 100K.

Have the dealer had a conversation with the field service rep? This has to be fixed even if Ford has to sent a engineer to fix the problem. I wouldn't take any excuse as to we aren't sure or just try it. I am sorry you are having this issue and Ford needs to step up and deal with this. I just wouldn't take the truck back unless they guarantee that the truck is fixed in writing. I know not having a truck you paid good money for is frustrating. Hang in there.

Ya tried that argument with service advisor the first time I took it in. They told me it would not fall under the diesel warranty because its an emission part. Unfortunately the emission warranty is only 5 years or 50k.

Appreciate it. Unfortunately after picking it up for the 3rd time its still not fixed. Last time they had it they told me my aftermarket air filter was dirty and that could be contributing to the problem. As soon I got the truck back I cleaned the air filter just in case. Supposedly they moved some wires that where ty-wraped to the main harness that where running to my auxiliary LED lights that are in my aftermarket rear bumper. Apparently Ford told them other wires being near the harness could be creating some kind of interference. (Even though they are run off an upfitter switch in the engine bay and where off from the switch. They updated the computer again and did another regen and told me they drove the truck for 70 miles and the light did not come back on. So they gave it back to me. It came back on within 3 days after having back. It stayed on for a couple of days and then went off for a couple days and came back on this afternoon.

What really upsets me is the Tech seems like he is trying to blame the aftermarket parts on my truck. He noted that there are many aftermarket parts in his notes. I do have alot of aftermarket parts but none of them should affect whats going. I have light pods in the rear bumper, a Cold air intake and filter, airlift air bags with in the rear, and small compressor for airing tires and running an air horn and a level kit.

My next plan of action is to request my money back for the initial repair which was $900.00 and take it to my regualr dealer where I bought it originally to get a second opinion. I will reach out to Ford customer service again to get them involved.

Here was the last message I received from service tech the last time they had it.

VERIFIED CONCERN AND DTC PRESENT. RETRACING STEPS FROM PREVIOUS VISITS AND AS PER FORDS RECOMMENDATIONS PERF PPT RB AND FORDS POSSIBLE CAUSES IT COULD BE CAUSED BY A CLOGGED EXHAUST OR EXHAUST LEAK YET NO EXHAUST LEAKS FOUND, DPF FILTER READING 15 % CLOGGED WHICH PASSES YET NOTICED VEH HAS AFTERMARKET AIR FILTER INTAKE SYSTEM AND AFTERMARKET FILTER IS BLACK AND DIRTY YET AIR FILTER IS NOT SUCKED INWARD INDICATING STILL HAS GOOD AIR FLOW YET VISUALLY AIR FILTER IS DIRTY. ALL CKTS READING GOOD AND RESULTS ARE TO REPLACE SENSOR AGAIN YET AS PER FORD RECS INSPECTED DLC AND THERE ARE NO AFTERMARKET ITEMS CONNECTED TO DLC ALTHOUGH CUST HAS MANY AFTERMARKET ITEMS INSTALLED ON VEHICLE. INSPECTED FURTHER BEHIND DLC AT BACK OF GWM AND FOUND A AFTERMARKET WIRE LOOM TIED TO GWM USING A TIE STRAP WHICH AS PER FORD COULD CAUSE RADIO INTERFERENCE AND COULD CAUSE THIS DTC. REROUTED AFTERMARKET WIRES AWAY FROM GWM CKTS, CLEARED DTC AND TEST DROVE OVER 70 MILES AND DTC NO LONGER RETURNED. NWD - Randall

Put your stock air box back on and see what happens. I am not a big fan of aftermarket air boxes. Sure they flow more air but the truck can only move so much air. The engineers at Ford got paid big $$$ to design our trucks. I know they don't always get it right but hey LOL. I also don't think light wires interfere with your truck. The air bags and compressor have nothing to do with your issue. I have them on my truck. Always keep all the parts that you remove from your truck. You never know when you are going to need them. Keep us posted.

any updates? Im having a similar issue on my 17 Duramax. We had a regen frequency update recall done on it. Seems like all the emissions stuff is similar to a point in these newer diesels. On warranty work I see they replaced the partic matter sensor 17k miles ago and now it’s acting up again.

You need to drive these new trucks on the highway to keep the emission system happy. Short trips and stop and go driving dies not make the emission system act up. Letting the regen finish as often as possible helps also. I also after some short trips to the Home Depot which is a couple miles away (doing home remodel) I take the truckout on the highway and get everything up to operating temperature. I mostly go by the transmission temp because it takes about 15 to 20 for it to hit 199 degrees then I know the truck is ok to take her home for a rest LOL

Mine won't even start a regen unless I get it above 45 mph with the water temp in the normal range.

Well I enjoyed not having the fn light come on for a while, but all good things come to an end. I'm at 4 trips to the dealer for this bs now. Going to take it to a different dealer this time. I left the house with my filter at 90% . I knew it was going to do a regen that day, so the first place i went was to fuel up. Later got the message that the filter was full, so I got on the highway and drove some bridges while it did a regen.... It ONLY went back down to 15% and then stopped the process (why I don't know) Just kept it at about 70 mph. No stomping on the gas or the brakes. So when I saw it was now at 20%, I knew the regen stopped and I went home. Two days later the f'n engine light came on with the **** 241d code. I cleared it myself hoping the next regen goes all the way to 0 like usual, but it came back on again today and it hasn't had a chance to regen yet as the filter now is only at 60%.. I'm about to drive it down a boat ramp and swim away.

Describing exactly what mine is doing.. Light on and off with no rhyme or reason. Mine has only 18k and is bone stock except for a k&n filter in the airbox.

Correction... I confused the filters. I have a K&N in my 2014 6.2 ... The diesel has stock everything. Got a case number from Ford now, and have an appointment to bring it to a dealer on Nov 3rd. (Fifth time!) I REALLY hope they figure it out this time. ... CEL is currently on, and my filter is at 85%... I'm going to see if it will regen with the light on (I don't think it will) If not, I'll just clear it again so it can at least attempt another complete regen.

Do not clear this code. Leave the l;ght on. The dealer will need to see it on. Remove the K&N filter before you take it in. I doubt that the truck will regen with the light on.It may try who knows. Truck needs to be broken before they will fix it.
