Hello everyone, I am fairly new member. I have posted before about shifting problems and this forum group helped me tremendously. But now I have a problem. Just yesterday my trucks check engine light came on and I scanned it and the code was 126, something to do with the MAP sensor. I noticed a few symptoms as well such as the shifting in the truck, it wasn’t as smooth as it was before. Also the idle was a lot higher then normal and the fuel economy was worse. Also which I thought was weird was when I was driving along the road around 55 mph, the check engine light turned off for a moment and the engine power went down. To be honest I don’t know what’s going on. Anyone wanna help?
Much appreciated
Thanks
Code 126 KOEO/CM indicates the MAP sensor output is out of range for the KOEO tests and has been out of range at some point during operation. Verify the MAP sensor connector is fully seated. If it is, then you can use a meter to measure the output if it can measure frequency. If not, just go get a new one or find a buddy to swap a known good one on for testing.
Yes I do. The same computer for the engine controls the transmission too. Any bad feedback signal can trigger erratic transmission shifting.
Hello it’s me again. I checked the map sensor out and I was thinking nothing could’ve happened to it since I literally replaced it a year ago but when I did check it the sensor was very moist. I shook the sensor a couple of times and water came out and then I remembered on Sunday that I drove the truck in heavy rain. So do you think I should try to dry out the sensor or go ahead and get a new one?
Thanks
Water and electronics do not mix. I purposely purchased a cheap DVM at Harbor Freight because it could measure frequency as well as other functions. If you had a meter you could verify the water logged MAP sensor is bad.
Given the scenario of rain, moisture coming out of the MAP and the MAP error code you can pretty much assume your "newish" MAP is now a paper weight.
