Anyone know if this hose is a replaceable part or should I just use a length of generic heater hose? It is a molded line from the engine block to the heater valve.
Mine looks like its about to deteriorate.
Check out Rockauto. They have replacements for the hoses. If you need to replace the heater cut off valve in the middle of the line, be careful which one you get as the have them for two different sizes of hose and they rarely tell you what size hose it fits. I went back and forth over this one with my dealer a few years ago..Rockauto lists it as the Heater Valve.
I couldn't find any specific hose from engine block to heater valve on any website. I just put an order in this morning from Rock Auto for a boatload of parts that need changing.
Wow! Thanks. I may not need it as I found a nice hose at the parts yard today. It looks to be nearly new or the truck was garaged avoiding the SoCal heat. I also pulled a clean looking purge valve, vacuum lines and the PCV as the coolant lines looked in great shape as well.
I also pulled the selector switch for AC (assuming it wouldn't help as the compressor comes on, just not the blower) and it made no difference.
Thanks! I moved here 3 years ago from MN. We had yards but less yards and vehicles weren't as plentiful. Here there are about 5 or 6 pick a parts within 30 miles of me and most of them have multiple Excursions at them.
Did some work on the Ex today. First I changed the purge valve and hooked up the vacuum system properly. I'm going to pull my hubs and regrease then. New orings here on Thursday. Hopefully 4x4 will work properly now.
Next...bonehead move. Investigating why the front blower isn't working. Rule..check the simple stuff first. I completely ignored that. Swapped out both blower speed switch and AC switch. Pulled the blower for visual inspection and bench test. Pulled the resistor for inspection and bench test. Ohmed a bit high so will replace. All no change. Well I guess I better check the fuse and relay. Fuse under dash is good. Go to check the relay. Touch it and blower kicks on (had ignition key on as i was going to test for voltage) then off. Replace the relay and blower works great. Shake my head. Cant believe I checked that last! At least I found the issue.
Steering box and hoses, door actuators, orings for hubs, blower resistor, oil and air filter come in Thursday and Friday.
