I have a 2003 F150 with a 4.2l engine. It has been sitting a year or two. It currently has 7005 miles on the odometer. It's not a favorite truck and does not get driven often. It was parked with ethanol free gas in the tank.
I tried to start the truck this weekend with no luck.
It cranks just fine and when I add a little fuel into the throttle body it fires right up. I changed the fuel filter thinking it was fuel starved. The fuel pump pumps plenty of fuel. I believe I can hear fuel going thru the rail and returning to the tank.
if you squirt fuel into the intake and the truck starts, then your not getting FUEL. Either the fuel pump is bad, or there is no signal to open the injectors , or the fuel is crap. There should be a Schrader valve on the fuel rail above the valve cover... push on the pin and see if you get fuel out... When you turn on the key, the pump should run for 3 seconds and build up pressure in the line.. If you have pressure, that verifies the pump is not the problem.............. you may need to check for power to the injectors.
