my 1986 f150 just wouldn't start after shutting it off when I got to where i was, I put a new fuel pump modgaler when I pull it out and jump it I can here the fuel pump turn on but it wont fire up, I put a little gas in the throttle body and it started, only for a second though, I didn't check the fuel presure, but could it be the fuel filter or fuel pump.

Need a little more information on this one.
What is a "fuel pump modgaler"?
Maybe a "fuel pressure regulator"?
How many fuel tanks?
What size engine?
Is this a fuel-injected engine?
What are you jumping to get the fuel pump(s) to run?
every fuel injected vehicle has an inertia switch.
I would reset it. it is worth a try. also before you go changing a bunch of parts pull the codes and get a presher gage and check to see what you have and where you have it. if the truck was running fine and you turned it off and it wont restart I dont think that will be the filter callusing that .
