Diagnostic reader will not pull codes

I have a 2005 ford f150 and the check engine light came on. Took to Autozone they could not get it to pull anything. Tried 3 other code readers and none of them will work. Anyone have this problem before?

check the fuse.... it is the same as the cigarette lighter....look in your manual.
