First thing to do is make sure it's not overheating. If it seems to be running OK, you can disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the light. If it comes back on, you need to get the codes pulled. Most Autozones will pull them for free. Call ahead to confirm. Once you get the codes, post them on this forum.

What year Explorer? '91 to '95 are EEC-IV/OBD-1, and you can pull codes at home using nothing more than a paper clip. Put "Ford EEC-IV self test" into your favorite search engine.
'96+ are EEC-V/OBD-2. These require a scanner/code reader to get codes. You can still pull the codes at home, if you have access to such a scanner/code reader. You can buy an OBD-2 code reader for $50-$100. Some parts stores will pull codes for free in hopes of selling something.

Yes we need some more information here... what year? what engine? auto or manual? etc.
If it's a '96 or newer, keep in mind the "generic" OBDII scanners (such as those autozone use) won't necessarily pull all the codes.

91 4 liter auto 4x4 explorer it has 256800 on it and it run's great but this light is a pain in the *** so u can do it with a a paper clip thats good,and i have a OBDII scannners and thats all i need
