Hey all. I'm hoping someone can help me with this. A contractor has asked me to check out his 2006 E250 econoline van. He is having a weird issue, and I have searched and haven't came across any info that maybe useful. Here is what he told me (I have not started digging into the van but also dont want to start chasing my tail around for days without a idea where to start). This is a electrical issue. About 6 months ago he had his engine replaced with a super low mileage motor. Everything went fine with the replacement, except when he took the van back his issues are as follows: when he has his left turn signal on, and presses the brake it stops flashing but will work fine without the brake depressed. Also he has no parking lights. It almost sounds like a MFS but before I go and throw parts at it I want to get some opinions. Brake lights work as they should. Could it be in relation to maybe a missed ground on reinstall of the engine? Could a ground have been damaged? I'm not sure if he has a trailer connector but I'm gonna check that as a lot of people say a few issues could revolve around that. Any other issues?? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Feel free to ask questions too and I'll try my best to answer them. Thanks again!!!

Yes, and yes. When things get weird, grounds are always suspect. The best way to avoid chasing your tail is to start with the basics. Check fuses, check bulbs, then start looking for a pinched wire bundle in the engine compartment or any place work might have been done.
You'll need the Ford Wiring Diagrams book in print or online (10's of alt sources --- e.g. AllData) to understand what's going on , plus I'd recommend using a PowerProbe to chase down the problem......................
