Got 2 codes this morning for cyl head temp too high. Temp gauge went full hot, really fast, but truck doesn't run like it was hot.
pulled over, watched temp on sct and it dropped very fast. Turned off key, then turned back on and temp gauge was back to normal. Then it started fluctuating up and down, much faster than it would if there was an actual overheating problem.
Fan clutch never engaged, but I know it works because when I towed my trailer last month it worked fine.
Where does the fan get it'signal from to lock up? You'd think if the temp gauge was reading full hot, the fan would have triggered .
