The HPOP alone can cost $1000 or more for a good one (and you want a good one!).

The Dieselsite Adrenaline pump is excellent.
https://www.dieselsite.com/2003-2004...lpumphpop.aspx

CNCFab sells one that has a good following also, and is cheaper.
https://www.cncfab.us/product-catego...-engine-03-07/

I wouldn't go back w/ OEM.

Book time would depend on whether or not your intake has to be removed, and I assume yours would have to be removed (03 to early 04 engine).
IIRC it would be 6-7 hours. Someone else will come along w/ a more confident answer!

It has been awhile since I had any work done. Labor was around $125 an hour.
Main thing is to find a good and honest shop!

Mark,
Interesting link from CNC fab, I have never seen thier products.
Appears it's more of an OEM pump look to me, they just do a better job of rebuilding cores maybe?

I would use an Adrenaline myself if needed, but a reliable reman for quite a bit less would be nice.
I think all the bad out of the box Ford remans and others have left a stain.

I would give a shop that amount of time for sure.

CNCFab does like the old 7.3L Terminator upgrade. They take an OEM pump and upgrade the weak components. Lots of good reviews, but I don't have any personal knowledge or experience with it. Lots of people on the Org have used it.

I was re-reading some old Ford training stuff and came across a reminder that if you have a bad HPOP, you should also remove the oil cooler and clean out the oil reservoir under it (might have some metal residue that could contaminate a new pump). They warn that if there was any metal that was "blown back" into this reservoir, it could cause issues in a short time w/ a new pump. I wonder ....

btw cvictor - for the parts you will also need a gasket set and also may need a new ICP sensor and ICP wiring harness.

If it is a late 04 engine, you may also need the updated dummy plugs and standpipes.
