I’m having issues with my wipers, I’m thinking I wired the switch backwards... when I turn them in they crash into the cowl below the windshield, like they are trying to spin backwards.
Does anyone one have the wiring diagram for a 12v switch. Also I’m using a gm wiring harness, maybe the wiring is different?
If they hit the cowl you have them set wrong, could be the tranmissions are opposite from what they should be on the motor. Have you checked to see that they are on right. could be that when arms were put on they were not in park position.
When I modified my truck I used a motor out of a 90 jeep Cherokee and the switch out of a F150. It took me a little time but was able to match up the wiring as follows
On switch....Large black......Power in and Black/white stripe........to washer
Blue/orange stripe......Red hi on motor
White.......Brown lo
Red......Green park feed
Black/pink.......Blue park return
On motor black to ground
You said you had a GM wiring harness so your colors are probably different, I used a backup battery charger on the motor to test each wire to determine the Hi, Lo and Park, then ohmed out the switch to figure what each wire did, then matched them up
the problem I am having is when I turn the switch to "on", the wipers move down about 1.5"-2" then move upward through their stroke. Is this normal? If so then I need to adjust the "park" position of the wipers, but they will be up my windshield a good bit...
Sounds like a problem with motor park switch. They are turning off before reaching full park. then when you turn them on they go to park before they start operating. Adjusting the wiper will help the bottoming out but will leave the wipers up on glass unless you cycle the switch.
