I don’t want to derail this thread...do you mind sending me a PM on exactly which (Michelin) ones, size, and your impressions of what you got?

Have you priced aftermarket skid plates? They are not cheap, and while the factory plates might not be the best, they are a lot better than nothing. Unless you are a city person who never goes off-road (Brentwood, CA), but then you should just admit that, rather than bashing the FX4 package.
So you would rather spend the 770.00 on the FX4 package instead of the 500.00 on legitimate aftermarket skid plates? Also I am flattered you put my city in there, but what does that have to do with it? I am willing to bet you googled Brentwood CA and didn't realize there is two of them.

The underside of my trucks get trashed quickly around here. I spent the money and went aftermarket and have on my last 5 trucks. The RCI plates have been perfect for what I do. I don't need my trucks to look pretty or to last past 100k. I need them to work continuously as hard as I do. So at 3am when I am tending my irrigation pumps or crisscrossing row crop mounds I don't worry about stray corn stalks or stray irrigation lines taking out my fuel tank. Also if you live close feel free to PM me I can show you the difference between factory skidplate protection vs aftermarket.

The C rated Wrangler Adventure with Kevlar is a far better tire than the standard load Wrangler Fortitude.

You completely avoided my point that it's rare to see an F150 with locker unless it has the FX4 package. So unless you want to special order it and wait for months (which will usually cost more than buying off the lot), the main point of buying FX4 is to get the locker. I'm not crazy about how they package options these days either, but take that up with Ford, not me.

I already stated that aftermarket plates are better than Ford's, but that Ford's plates are far better than nothing, so I don't know what you are trying to prove there.

Most definitely better on snow or off-road. But I'm not impressed with the amount of wear on mine for the mileage. They aren't all that great in the ice and snow, either. My other 4x4 has Cooper Discoverer AT3 on it, and they are wearing better than the Adventures, as well as being better in snow. The Adventures are a bit quieter on the highway, but I don't care much about that.

I haven't seen a new FX4 with the Fortitude (it also makes no sense to put them on the FX4), which makes me suspect that a dealer swapped wheels with another truck on the lot. It's actually quite common (I was a dealer tech in a former life).

I am sorry but I just looked at the inventory of the nearby dealership.. in Irvine, California.. and they don't have a lot of FX4's but the lockers (I assume it's the electronic locking axles) are not what I'd call rare. More than half had that option.

My last two F-150's both had it and neither were FX4's and I did not actively seek out that option.

Mine has the big e-locker and it's not an FX4.

Same here, most of the trucks here are ordered with E locker or the Max Tow which includes E locker. The FX4 actually is the rare option around these parts.

So my sticker says 3.55 locker, no charge. If it was part of the FX4, wouldn't it be listed under that package like the skid plates are, or like the wheels and other things are listed under the STX package?

I bought this off the lot, so it was sitting there like this with (iirc) 34 miles on it 7 months after it was built at the first or second highest volume dealer in the country.

Beats me.

After reading this thread I feel I should strip the FX4 package off the truck...…………………..
