Aftermarket 'side protection' mouldings.
Hopefully they are the self adhesive type, so you can remove them w/a hair dryer and nylon fishing line.

Nice truck, and no way no how is that factory. That is some previous owner added aftermarket looking trim. NOT OEM to 73-79 Ford truck. I'd pull it off (3/M tape probably holding it on) and buff that paint to a shine.

I would rather suffer a few run-ins with a wayward shopping cart than have those ugly things on my truck, remove them immediately! lol.....in all seriousness they are pretty hideous and really detract from an otherwise beautiful truck.

WOW, what a way to ruin the look of a nice truck!! Those could be aftermarket or OEM side moulding!? Regardless, they appear to be for the OBS trucks (92-97) NOT 73-79 trucks. More than likely, 3M double sided tape.
