Yup. It hates water. Water is its worst enemy. Buy fuel from a high volume reputable source. Drain filter and change filter regularly.

Same goes for similar CP pumps on the other brands.

I have been monitoring some threads on the fuel pump replacement. I have thought about replacing mine. There is a video (below) that is a fairly complete walk-through of the removal of the old one and install of a new one.

I would be curious what options there are for "better quality" pumps. I quote that because that may be a loose term. As per the title of that video - that replacement was with a 2015 MY pump in place of the prior generation. I haven't found what the line of thought is there, whether it has a materials change or design change that makes it less susceptible to exploding with water intrusion, or even just low lubricity fuel, but it appears to be a direct replacement.

There appear to be some performance aftermarket upgrades as well to deliver higher pressure or volume.

I would imagine no high pressure pump is going to like water ingestion, emulsified or not. Though, is there a general consensus on fuel pumps that are more bullet proof than what Ford offers?

For documentations' sake here is another thread here I came across that has information relating to an aftermarket replacement along with a detailed description of the removal/install procedure.

The 15+ pump is a stroker cp4. Puts out more fuel than the earlier version. Most guys will upgrade it with the 15+ turbo on the earlier 6.7's at the same time. Turbo is more reliable than the sst. Makes better, more reliable power especially when deleted and does better at high altitude. I have heard some claims that the 15+ cp4 has a better coating that should make it more reliable but I'm not positive on that. For the record thou, I follow allot of powerstroke forums and have not heard of many failures in the last 3 years or so since I bought my 15. Think it is blown out of proportion, just use good fuel.
