Neutral safety - Floor Shift

Neutral safety - Floor Shift
I have a '76 F-150 with the four-speed floor shift transmission. The other day I turned the key with the truck in gear (clutch out) and it jumped forward. I thought that by 1976 every vehicle had some kind of neutral safety switch. This truck had a lot of rewiring done before I got it, and I see an empty connector down near the clutch pedal arm. Did this truck have a clutch switch, or any kind of neutral safety?

Welcome to the old truck world. Not like a 04 F350 huh? No "clutch pushed in" safety switch on these ol trucks. Especially a manual 4 spd, automatic trans then yes. Learn about your truck carefully.
Also know that if you set you foot operated park/emergency brake you will NOT get a dash warning light. And you can probably still drive the truck and burn up your rear brakes. You should long notice the drag before you burn them up. If you get that red "brake" light while driving and braking you have a leak/problem in the system.
No head light on reminder, no key in the ing reminder, probably no "hey put your seat belt on" reminder. NO ck eng light. Gotta dig the floor mounted headlight dimming switch and reach up to the dash to work the wiper switch every time you need them. FYI you can get get a delay set up. Might have to do the "hood tap" method to get it to unlatch.
You do know that turning the headlight switch fully counterclockwise to the 1st notch will brighten the dash lights all the way and (with the doors close) make the dome light come on and stay on when you click it past the 1st notch.
