I installed air bags today and found that my ABS line on the passenger side is rubbing against one of the carriage bolts. Looks like an easy fix if I’m able to pull the ABS line from the rear caliper and route it behind rhthe carriage bolt.
Is it safe to unbolt the line from the caliper, pull it out, reroute, and then reattach? Will I loose brake fluid, or is it as easy as pulling the sensor and just reattaching?
Sorry im a totally newbie on modern brakes. I don’t even know if I’m using The correct descriptions. I don’t want to screw something up, or worse yet, put me and my family in danger.
There is no sensor on the caliper. If you talking about the hose to the caliper, then yes fluid will come out and it will need to be bled.
you are right. I just checked the line again and it’s not connected to the caliper. Here is a pic of the line and the connection I’m asking about.
If you look at the white hose on the bottom pic, you can see where it it rubbing against the carriage bolt. I put some electrical tape to protect it a bit.
Can an I remove this line, re-route, and bolt back on without any issues?
