Burnt plastic smell
Applied antiseize to bolts on the exhaust flange and manifold. Did get some smoking from that for a couple minutes, which is to be expected.
I must have been careless, because I noticed one of the vacuum lines must have found a way of riding up on the EGR tube causing it to melt. Replaced and re-routed the line.
I am still getting a "burnt plastic" smell after the truck is nice and warm.
I do not use this truck daily. Have probably ran it two hours at the very most since performing the mentioned repairs.
How long would it theoretically take for melted plastic to finally melt clean off of an exhaust part? Have not confirmed there is residual plastic, just a thought sine I see no other obvious culprits.
Any places I should look out for signs of burning/heat damage? Temp gauge remains normal, coolant is clean and new. Do not see anything from a quick visual inspection under the hood with a flashlight that does not involve contorting my body like a gymnast.
