Lightbulb fe 360 casting numbers

i'm pretty sure i have a 360 block but i can't seem to find the casting numbers anywhere can anyone tell where to find them. also if it is a 360 i under stand a 360 and 390 are the same except for the stroke. to make the 360 a 390 can i just put a 390 crankshaft and connecting rods in the 360 block.
Thanks,

the casting may or may be on there. I have a d3te with the numbers in the lifter valley, and a c6me block with the numbers on the side of the block. And as for converting a 360 to a 390 all you really need is the 390 crank. The 390 rods are stronger and will produce a gas friendly comp ratio though.

There was a batch of blocks in 69 that had no casting numbers. And 70's era service blocks have no casting numbers either but have the vertical ribs on each side of the block. Also a 70's date code will have two dots under the first number. What's the date code of your block???

I have the same problem with my 390 - no casting number anywhere on the block. What I did find was a partial VIN stamped (not cast) on the rear of the block (driver's side). The last several digits are the series code (number made). I think (not absolutely sure) the first digit is the year and the second denotes engine size (mine has a "Z" that I believe indicates 390, which it is).

Good luck,

I forgot to mention my 1970 block doesn't have any casting anywhere.

On the right hand side near were the oil filter base bolts on is 2k18 with letter E below (the 2 good posibly be another letter/number its hard to make out). Thanks again,

Looks like a Oct 18 72 date code with the 2K18. The 5K19J is when the block was machined and finished. Looks to be the day after the casting date. No wasted time there! LOL. G.

Most likely it is. The 360/390 from that time were both the same block. They were cast at MCC and most had the reinforced crank webbing. Did you check the stroke through a spark plug hole? Short of tearing the thing apart this would give you some clue what you have. G.
