Overdrive problem?

I'm having problems with my 99f150 5.4. It starts and runs fine but going into drive it runs like crap. N works, reverse is so so (it moves but chugs) it wants to kill when I give it gas in drive or first, but runs like a new truck in 2nd. Just had the tranny and alternator swapped and still does the same thing. Overdrive light is flashing as well.

Get the codes read. Anything else is just guessing.

Smh 🤦*♂️

Check with the people who swapped the trans, unless you did it yourself my guess is someone messed up the trans or didn’t do much of a job swaping it. Since it’s a new trans it should not run that bad. Go to your local auto zone or o’Riley’s to get your codes read if you don’t have a good code reader

Autozone and O'Riely's can't read Ford transmission codes. You need a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.

If I understand from your post, you had the transmission changed for the 'chugging' condition and it's still doing it.
Why did you not get the code read when there is a fault indicated with the shifter light flashing?. That's why it's their.
As of the moment it seems the issue would be with the plugup, the harness or some related issue.
(For example) if two transmission solenoids operated due to a cross in the external harness, what would you expect the trans to do?
The computer would detect this condition and flash the shifter lamp besides a drivability issue.
I might read it incorrectly but that's the way you wrote it, for the trans change..
Good luck.
