I had a question I was doing 80 on the freeway and noticed my ect was 192 and eot was 209 to 210 and normally I do 65 and its within 6 or 7 no more then 10 apart. I have an egr delete and blue spring straight pipe otherwise stock and when I slow down to a complete stop within 4 minutes it drops to 3 degrees within each other is it not anything worry about due to climbing a grade doing 80 with it being 100 degrees outside.

At 80mph, you are pushing quite a bit of wind. As long as it's under 12deg spread at 60mph on the highway, I wouldn't worry about it.......there is a pretty good load on the motor running 80mph. Do you tow at 80mph? Seems pretty darn fast....
No that is unloaded towing is at 65 no faster and pulling a grade loaded with about 5er I can do 65 no problem climbing a grade with no more then a 6 degree spread the other day was unloaded late to work climbing a hill at 80 and it was a 20 degree spread but as soon as I came to a stop 3 to 4 min later it cooled off to a 2 degree within each other in those 4 minutes.
With ECT at 192* plus 80mph up a grade in 100* ambient temps... you had a stat that was slow closing. You're measuring a ball of wax and a spring with a computer, there's going to be variations sometimes. If you're consistently seeing a 6* spread while climbing and towing, I think you just caught an anomaly.
If you scanner does data logging, start it sometime when you're going 80 and ECT is up near 200 with EOT close, and take an exit ramp and start cruising down the access road at 30ish mph. Sometimes when I do this, ECT spikes up 6-8 degrees before it drops really fast. I'm guessing that reduced airflow through the cooling stack (slower speed plus we can monitor fan speed) plus a high water pump impeller speed (roughly the same RPM as on the highway) moves coolant through the radiator too fast to be cooled well, the temp spike keeps the stat hot and open where the ECT sensor is, so the ECT reading pops.
Ya I have noticed that if I get off and do 30 to 40 my ext will jump up 4 or 5 degrees so you think then I should be ok because if it was oil cooler being clogged it would be while towing and in any condition right. Ok thank you I'll start date logging it does have that option.
You're thinking along the right lines - if it was clogged you'd see a greater differential when towing. You aren't, so I think you just caught it at an awkward moment.
