Need help with installing new engine mounts

I have a '66 Econoline Super Van which has an inline 6 (300ci) from a 1983 F-150. I'm in the process of replacing the engine mounts. The existing mounts were missing the original rubber and they were jerry-rigged using drilled out hockey pucks by the previous owner. When asking an old hot rodder friend of mine about renting an engine lift, he said he's replaced mounts many times by jacking up the engine, so that's what I'm attempting.

I purchased the mounts for the '83 motor and find that the distance between where the mounts meet the frame is very tight. After jacking up the engine, I was able to remove the old mounts and I was able to bolt on the passenger side. In my attempt to install the bulkier driver side mount, I got it nearly in place with the mounting stud angled through the hole in the frame, but the plane of the three mounting holes is tilted away from the engine block. That's where it stands. Next, I'm going to try removing the bolts which hold the passenger side engine mount (but leave it in place) and try again (with the driver side mount in place as well). Maybe if I can get the bulkier drivers side engine mount in place first, it will all come together.

Any advice from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Try to find the motor mounts for a 1965-1967 E100 with a 240 engine. That is probably what came in your van, and the 240 and 300 are basically the same block.

Rock Auto had the mounts and they're on their way. There's just not enough space using the '83 F-150 mounts. Thanks for the tip!

Fits perfectly

Thanks EmilBarnabas - your advice was spot on. The 300 inline 6 in my Econoline is bolted down on the '66 E-100 / 240 mounts. Happy to strike that off the list.

No 1974 FoMoCo vehicle used a 2150 series 2V carb, because it was introduced in 1975. 1963/74's came with the 2100 series 2V

And, there was no such thing as Auto-Lite after 1972. In 1972, the US Gov't forced FoMoCo to sell Auto-Lite, as they said FoMoCo had a monopoly on auto parts.

In 1973, Ford introduced in-house brand Motorcraft.

351W's were not installed in F150/350 & Bronco until 1981, not installed in any year F100.

351W installed in 1969/81 FoMoCo Passenger Cars; 1975/97 Econolines; 1981/96 F150/350 & Bronco; 1997 F250 H/D & F350.

Hi again, thanks for responding. I probably should be more clear. The 351 engine came out of a 1974 Torino. The original carb was a 2100. The place that I exchanged my carb core sent me a 2150. They said it would apply to my 1979 ford f150 project. Juat looking to get a diagram for all of the exhaust lines and related engine stuff
Maybe the 302 was used that year? I appreciate your help. Thanks again.

Those are the base Ford part numbers. All oil pans will have the same base part number. The oil pan for a specific engine in a specific vehicle will have a 4 or more digit prefix and a 1 or more digit suffix.

Harrythehack, you might get more results if you start a new thread, since this thread is about engine mounts.

You need to hook up the emission control devices that apply to your vehicle. Your state Department of Motor Vehicles might decide it needs to apply to the year of the vehicle, or the year of the engine.

Please ask questions in the 1973/79 F100 and etc forum. This forum is for 1957/79 Ranchero & 1961/67 Econoline.
