T18 Exploded View Please

Looking for all the Ford shop manual info on a T18.
I'm sure ND will have one.
My 65 Ford shop manual(multi book set) does not show the Warner T18 4 speed. It does show the T98, I'm assuming those are not the same thing. What year manual would cover the T18?

No T-98's after 1964.
Two T-18 pics, lower pic shows exploded view of shift lever and misc. parts.

My 1973 truck chassis manual covers the T18 an T19 and just about every other transmission ford put in anything up to a Spicer 16 speed compound. But I would think any year in the 70's would cover it.

But I'm assuming you could still get a T18 based on the info when you decoded the truck for me(see below). Was the T18 not in the manual because it was normally available unless you special ordered it?

Also is there a decoding book out there like the one I have for Mustangs?

Welcome to FTE

F10 = F100 2WD

B = 300 1V 1-6

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

627422 = 1965, assembled December 1964.

129" Wheelbase.

No COLOR code.

F100 2WD / 5,000 lbs. GVWR

D81: D = Light Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic // 81 = 81B Custom Cab.

F = Borg Warner T-18 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

08 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.50-1 / non Limited Slip / 3300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

150 net HP @ 3600 RPM.

720815:

72 = San Jose (NorCal) Ford District Sales Zone Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

0815 = Domestic Special Order number. Your truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

COLOR code blank: One reason your truck was special ordered, it was painted a non standard color.

When a vehicle (car or truck) is painted a color per the customers request that is not an RPO, there is no COLOR code. RPO: Regular Production Order.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have found that most of those so-called decode books have errors and omissions.

For example, what does your Mustang decode book say about no COLOR code, DSO, and RPO?

btw: The above info was decoded from the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.

TRANS code F = Warner T-98 (1957/64).

TRANS code F = Warner T-18: 1965/79 F100/250 2WD

TRANS code N (1965) & TRANS code A (1966/79) = New Process 435: 1965/72 F350; 1965/79 F100/250 2WD/4WD

TRANS code P = Warner T-19: 1973/79 F350.

Standard equipment in F100/250 2WD was the Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual. 3 M/T with Overdrive (1965/71 F100), both the 4 speeds were optional.

Ahh, so if the 1st owner had left it with the standard OD tranny I might not be doing this Gear Vendor OD install that I am starting on. But this will be better having 8 gears(really 6 as I basically never use the non-synchro 1st) for hills, especially when towing. Could have used an in-between gear a few time on our recent 2,500 mile Southwest trip. Mocked it all up and got the measurements for the new driveshaft done this morning. Off to the driveline shop Monday and while he is building the shaft I'll be resealing the T18, checking and maybe replacing the clutch(I assume it's the original w/ 96K on it), and pulling the flywheel to help with pulling the oil pan to reseal it. It will be nice to stop all the bleeding that's been going on from the old original gaskets.

What standard Overdrive? 3 M/T with Overdrive was optional, TRANS code B.

Ford type 3.03 3 speed all syncromesh M/T was standard equipment. TRANS code A (1965), TRANS code C (1966/79).

The original owner bought the truck with the optional Warner T-18 4 speed.

What most people don't realize is that the bare bones F100/250 standard cab 2WD was a cab & chassis with 240 I-6 & type 3.03 3 M/T as standard equipment. EVERYTHING else was optional.
