F10 = Truck series code - F100 2WD

A? = engine - 240 cu. in. 6 cyl or if Y = 352 cu. in. V8 (you say it is a 352)

K = Kansas City Assembly Plant

849062 = Assembly date code - Built April 1966

129 = wheelbase - long bed

M = color - Wimbledon White

F100 = Model code - 5000 GVW

E81? = Red Crush Vinyl/Red Cody Pattern Woven Plastic interior/Custom Cab

C = 3 speed manual light duty transmission

17 = rear axel ratio - 3.25

Last line is GVW, HP rating at given RPM and DSO (dealer special order code)

Lastly, WELCOME TO FTE!!

F104?K849062 /129 / E81 / C / 17 / 05000 / 172 / 4000 / 548644
Welcome to FTE

The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code.

It's not a 4 (no such thing), it's a Y since the 172 net HP @ 4,000 RPM matches the 352 2V.

129" Wheelbase. 129 does not decode to anything inre to a pickup bed...just the wheelbase only.

E81: E = Red Crush Vinyl & Red Cody Pattern Woven Plastic (this refers to the seat upholstery) / 81 = 81B Custom Cab.

C = Ford type 3.03 3 Speed Manual Medium Duty Transmission. The Light Duty was only used with the 240 I-6.

17 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.25-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

548644:

54 = Omaha NE Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

8644 = Domestic Special Order number. The truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."
