Thanks Fella's. I got it seasoned yesterday with some peanut oil. 16lbs of charcoal went 13hrs at 350*. Once I got it set, it stayed right on the money.
Howdy all. Well had a good weekend, got out to an ATV park in Laurinburg. Camped out a couple of nights. The first night, Saturday, was a heck of a ruckus, but I think Sunday we were the only crew out there all night. But all went fine. David (Raeford James's son) picked up a used Polaris 700 on Thursday of last week, and ended up swamping it the first day out. My little beat up Honda did fine though. Still been contemplating some sort of camper or toy hauler. Think I've finally settled on one. LINK But it's going to have to wait a few more days or weeks. Roof has to come first, and now a refrigerator, as mine decided to **** all over the kitchen, and most of the meat I had stuffed away for smoking is starting to thaw. So looks like I'm going to be throwing some ribs and a shoulder on the smoker this weekend, either that or it has to get tossed out, or cooked in an oven (Yeah right!)
But at least I got some smoked ribs to look forward to, and some que!
Hope all y'alls day is starting off better than mine...
well yesterday was involved in a accident... some dingbat decided they were going to stop in the middle of the highway right infront of me to merge into stopped traffic... unfortunately they couldnt completely merge into the other lane and i had to come to a slidding stop because of the wet roads... i narrowly missed them however the car behind me wasnt so lucky and rammed the back of my truck... wasnt able to look at it then because it was still raining... but could tell then more of my hitch cover was broken up... her car though ended up looking like a pug afterwards... i know her ac was busted because i could smell the freon.. dont know how well her radiator faired but couldnt see any coolant leaking at the time... trooper said they were going to follow her for a bit to make sure her car was ok since she said she was going to try to make it home which wasnt much further..
looking at the truck this morning it seems to have faired pretty well.. other than scuffing the dirt off the bumper i didnt have any other damage to the body... hitch seemed to take the brunt of it and couldnt find any damage to it either... however the hitch pin has 2 shallow dings in it from the reducer insert being shoved into it.. that was really all i could find...
Sparky,
Glad to hear you are alright after the fender bender. Also very glad to here that you were able to stop in time. Sorry to hear though, that the gal behind you couldn't.
Ended up picking up a used fridge from a place in Raleigh. Half the cost of new, hopefully it'll last longer than the guarantee\warranty the guy gave me on it. Grabbed a dryer while I was there since mine has been running on only one heating element for the last too many years to count. Got it moved in thanks to Dustin's help, now I just have to find time to stock it. Also been trying to scheme, connive and convince myself to buy a camper before the Uwharrie trip coming up. Just can't seem to justify it as of yet. Might be another year before I do. But I am doing enough camping trips every year I think to buy one.. eventually. But may end up going used rather than new
