AMP research power step installations

So I just installed the power step on my truck. Works and looks great. One small issue I have is the led lights seem to peel off easily. They are just taped to the rocker. I did not drill holes in the rocker to feed the wire through. Maybe that was the reason? Is there a better solution?

If they peel off again, I might just cut the leds and cap the wires..

Had planned to drill mine but decided not to after a long afternoon under the truck.
I did straighten out and bend the wires into position and made sure they would stay mostly in that position before sticking them on.

The key I think is surface prep. Wiped my rockers down two or three times with 90%+ alcohol and let it dry well on a very warm day.
Holding them in place for 30 seconds seems to have made a solid grip. They haven't come off yet... that I know of.

In retrospect am not sure I should have bothered. The only time they are even seen is when I go out to get something at night that was left in the truck.

You can get that 3M automotive tape at any parts store and try sticking them again though.
If mine fall off I might use some heavy duty outdoor double sided tape I got at Lowe's.
