Hey guys quick question hopefully it's an easy one, trying to order my speedometer drive gear that connects to my speedometer cable... the book says to count the number of teeth and my options are 19 20 21 and 22 teeth. I'm assuming they are talking about the teeth in the transmission. This is what I see only 6. Any help would be great. I'll also mention is a 53 fordomatic.
I'm not the Ford-o-matic expert, but I can tell you to be careful what you ask for. The drive gear is the one inside the transmission. The driven gear is the one on the end of the speedo cable. Fyi.
Hey guys quick question hopefully it's an easy one, trying to order my speedometer DRIVEN gear that connects to my speedometer cable...
The book says to count the number of teeth and my '53 Ford-O-Matic options are 18-19-20-21 teeth. I'm assuming they are talking about the teeth in the transmission. What in the world?
I'll also mention is a 53 fordomatic.
You count the number of teeth on the DRIVEN gear. There are different transmissions, rear axles/ratios and tire sizes, so there are different tooth count DRIVEN gears.
So, what is its tooth count on the DRIVEN gear, is it nylon or steel? If it's steel, it may have a partial part number on it.
DRIVE gear located on the output shaft. And...I'm not singling you out, I've been typing these two gears in CAPITAL letters in 100's of posts since 11/2006.
