I have an 83 F100 Flareside with a 302 and AOD transmission. I replaced the transmission with a rebuilt one and now the speedo is showing ten miles faster than I am traveling. The numbers on the transmission where the speed connects to it are RF-EOAP-7A040-3D. I provided my truck information for the replacement but could they have provided one from a vehicle that had a different gear in it to change my speed reading? If so how do I determine what gear tp purchase fopr the end of the cable to get it right. The only plus is that I should never get a speeding ticket, but if you were following behind me I will hear your horn.
Thanks for the response number dummy and sorry for the late reply, but I have been traveling the frindly skys all week. I have 18 teeth on the speedometer cable where it inserts into the transmission.

Do you have the original transmission? Use the driven gear from it...
Ha, mine reads slower than I am going, my gps on my old phone said when I was sitting on 40 mph I was really going 42 mph but these mobile police units that tells your speed they are saying I am doing 40 mph when I am reading 30 mph.
Seems like I see a bunch of this happening for Ford trucks for some reason we get so many at work that need gear swaps.
