so I went to put the boxlink tie downs on my truck and they apparently shipped them packaged with a key in one of them. The key broke off and I can’t unlock it. There was a spare key, so I got the other 3 installed.
I never thought to look at the packaging or open them when I did my pre paperwork inspection. Can I get a replacement? Should the dealer cover this? And ideas on getting the broken key out?
Locksmith to pull the broken key out. I went to get a copy of my key all over then to locksmiths. No one can find the blank to cut a key. If you do get a key cut can you please find the information on that key blank and post it. Good luck.
Same thing happened to me. My buddy was putting them in and I thought he broke it. he even felt bad because he couldn't remember if he did or dint do it.
Luckily I could pull it out with needle nose.
You realize you don't need a key to remove them? They pop right off with a screwdriver under the lock. The box link cleats are under 40.00 for all 4 with keys online. I lost my keys and just popped them off. Very simple, the lock is only there to look cool. It's a very small metal tab and is just for looks.
I guess I didn’t really analyze how the lock worked or how effective it is. I kinda wondered the point of the lock to begin with. But it’s a gadget that came with my truck. As frivolous as it might be I’d still like them to replace it. Maybe it’s petty, but I’m going with the principle of it.
