I just had to post this experience, as I know all of you will appreciate it. I had ordered a PATS key on Ebay for my new '08 F-150. It arrived a day or two ago, and today I went to have it cut. Went to Wal-Mart as I have had a few keys cut there, and it is simple and the machine does all the work. I take my original key in and hand it to the woman clerk. She identifies it as a Ford key, '08, and reaches for the proper blank to cut me a key. I then tell her I have a blank and all I want is for her to cut it for me and I will pay her as if I had her provide the blank. She looks at the key , then me, then the key again and tells me she cannot do that. When I question why, she calls over a male "Associate" who is in his 60's. He pushes his chest out and tells me is is against the Federal law to cut a key I bring in due to terrorism and Homeland Security. I laugh, he gets red, and I insist to see the law. He and her disappear into the back and never return. As I am leaving I see the store manager, who asks if I have a problem. When I tell him the story, he asks if I knew who told me that, and then heads off full steam towards the hardware department. I left, went to another local store, and they cut the blank for me. Thought you all would enjoy this story. Moral: Don't deal with Wal-Mart unless you are willing to deal with people like this.
Yea thats pretty lame, I tried looking for some info on that and couldn't find a thing that suggests its a law coming down from homeland security saying they cant cut your key. I DID find an interesting article thats a good laugh if you have the time since it's a rather long read. It relates to walmart setting their own polices to suit their needs. Which I suspect is the case you ran into, them unwilling to cut a key unless you buy one of theirs.
Riiiiight....I'm sure everyone has seen the wide-spread coverage of terrorist using key duplicates to blow things up. The good folks of Wally World are truely providing a valuable national security practice by not allowing us to bring our own blanks...nevermind the fact they were willing to cut it using theirs!
Wal-Mart does not sell the PATS key. I had purchased it elsewhere and all I wanted them to do was cut it for me. It was the third PATS key to be used as a spare.

A friend of a friend knew this guy who worked on a nuclear submarine. He said that a terrorist had a copy of one of the launch keys for a nuclear missile, and that he had almost managed to launch one of the sub's nukes before the Marine Security Guards took him down. If he had succeeded, he could have killed over a million people!!
Remember, you read it on the Internet. So it has to be true!!

you should tell your friend he is a moron and that his breeding priveledges have been revoked. because of security concerns I won't even go into how wrong that statement is...but lets just say that it would require alot more than 1 inept person to launch. key or not
