I have a 68 F100 and I just installed a 75 front suspension, I found a F250 steering column, it came out of a 78 standard trans truck, what color wires on the column connect the 68 wiring harness. I contacted the manufacturer of the signal switch I just installed and they couldn’t tell me which wire went to which switch
I have a '78 tilt wheel column I installed in my '69 F100 when I converted to front discs and power steering. I didn't want to cut/butt splice/butcher my original underdash '69 wiring harness so, I cut the female connector (with some length of the wiring) from the Dentside donor truck's main wiring harness and I took the connectors (plus some length of wire) from my old '69 TSS and spliced the two connectors together to make a 'patch cable' to plug in between the '69 main wiring harness connector and the steering column connector on the '78 tilt wheel column. --simple plug-in without butchering the '69 wiring harness under the dash.

Is the drawing labeled from the 78 column? The tss had been replaced at some point and was not pinned in correctly, I have no yellow wire coming from the column.

Reason: 68 column
'78/'79 columns had 2 wires for the horn contact brushes under the center of the steering wheel (yellow & blue wires). I only used the blue wire for the horn. I left the yellow wire unhooked for future use --it'll be the signal wire for the cruise control module.
Steve:
I appreciate the explanation and suggestions on the wiring adapter. I will be doing the same for my 66 with a 78 column. Do you know if it’s difficult to include the 4 way flasher circuit so that it operates off the 78 column hazard pull-buton? I have the 4way flasher harness from my 66, but not sure what to do with the existing pull switch from the 66.
thanks!

I don't currently have the hazard ****/switch on my '78 column tied into the flasher circuit. My original flasher toggle switch is still mounted in the glove box.
However, it shouldn't be that difficult to wire the column switch in. If you wanted, you could parallel the column switch wires into the circuit so that the flashers could be activated off of either switch.

the diagram is looking at the plug with it plugged into the original truck harness right

Shown looking into the end of the connector.
.....there was supposed to be another '67-'69 TSS connector/wiring included in a previous post that didn't go through for some reason. It's the connector for the two wires (282 and 283) to the rear lights.
....try this again....
Thanks for all the help. I got the light tail lights park light and signal light last night but can’t seem the get my horn or brake light to work
I had a 3 speed column in the 68 but it didn’t have a hazard switch on it and there isn’t a switch for the hazard light that I can find, but I do have a relay, the stand 78 column has the switch in it what best way to tie it in

Have you looked in your glove box to see if it's mounted in there? The factory emergency flasher switch on my '69 F100 Ranger is in the glove box. The emergency flasher switch was also in the glove box on a '68 F100 Ford Ranger my dad used to have.
