05 f150 starter issues

I replaced the starter barely over a year ago with a brand new duralast gold (save the Chinese comments) now I have to bump the starter several times to get it to engage. Same thing with the old starter, except no matter if I bumped sit or hit it it wouldn't engage. Now it has to be bumped several times to start. It grinds if you don't. Any suggestions?

Grinding like the starter gear won't engage flywheel fully? Flywheel teeth bad?
