06 F250 hard start then wont shut off
I've been on the f150 group for a while and some of its members were extremely helpful in getting over a few obstacles, i'm hoping to get lucky again working on my dads 06 F250 super duty diesel. its turning over but wont start and the one time it did it wouldn't shut off with the ignition switch.i checked all the fuses and there fine getting odb2 p0231. can anyone steer me in the right direction

The code is for the HFCM not getting electrical power. On the easy side it could be the inertia cutoff switch (look in manual) on the hard side the fuel pump relay. The reason it’s hard is it’s not a plug in relay like other circuits are, it’s hard soldered in. The fuel pump relay is located inside the instrument panel fuse box. This means it is integral to the box and you will need to replace the fuse box if the relay fails.
Run on after key off means there is combustible material entering the intake air. You could have a god awful amount of oil in the CAC from blowby which would shutoff after a short time unless the blowby is severe, or the more likely the turbo oil seal on the supply side has failed and letting engine oil get fed into the intake side. That can lead to a run-away condition. The only way to shut it down is to completely block the air filter openings and starve the motor before it destroys itself.
