I have a 2004 ford F-250 super duty turbo charged.....my mechanis is changing the rear brakes on my truck but told me the pitman arm has some play and i have been having an issue with the truck bobbling and kinda hard to control and steer but its still drivable. He says i need to replace the pitman arm but the cost is about $250-$300 with parts i believe, is this about right, also is it just the pitman arm that needs to be changed or are they other parts that have to be replace due to the pitman arm? Is there a kit? If so, can someone send me pictures of what i need.
Are you sure it was the pitman arm? If they are worn if its the splined shaft that was loose usually also requires a steering box due to the wear on the splines, or the tie-rod end was loose that wallowed out the tapered receiving end. Thats not common. But a tie-rod and alignment can get you in that range.

Yea he checked tie rods and ball joints and the only thing that has play is the pitman arm.

Earlier? What may have happened is if the pitman arm nut was not tightened to spec the arm may have loosened on the spline. Again, if the spline is loose then the (new) steering box sector shaft needs to be inspected to make sure the splines are not worn.
