I run a 180 in my supercharged excursion.
I run a 195 my limited and a 185 in my 3rd excursuon.
I like more heat in winter so I drive the one with a 195 stat as daily driver even in summer. But my summer temps never get above 85.
I have no ovet heating issues on any of them.
recommend removing t stat and driving. Should take a long time to warm up. If not pump is bad.
I think 3V motors use 195 t stats....not sure but every one I have replaced had factory 185s in them.
NOTE:
I vaguely remember issues with thermostat lengths. Some are shorter than others. Make sure your t stat is the same length as the one you took out.
I will try removing the thermostat tomorrow to see what happens. Will probably pick up a 185° Motorcraft thermostat tomorrow and put that in instead just to see if it makes any difference. i'll give an update after, thank you.
I want to thank everybody that gave some advice. I ended up putting in an OEM 185° thermostat, and replacing the clutch fan and water pump since they were the originals yo be safe. Between the three of them, the problem is now fixed. Thanks again.
