tailgate moulding

Question, can the molding piece that is the top cap of the tailgate that the step and pulls out , can it come off or be replaced? mine got messed up and I want to replace it . is it held on with clips, rivets ???

If you mean the trim around the step that goes the whole width of the tailgate, it is 4 pins and 17 or so clips.
Remove the upper access panel first.

No idea on the step itself.

I've replaced many of the non-step equipped tailgate caps...they always get messed up when loading/un-loading pallets, or pulling material out of the box if you're not careful. Its just held on with a series of clips.
